Skyhawk Association Central Texas Mini-Reunion - March 28, 2009
Nineteen Skyhawk Association members and copilots gathered at the Hangar Hotel, Fredericksburg, Texas, on March 28, 2009. The day-long get-together was hosted by Bear Langworthy and Bob Hickerson at the T-82 Airport Diner, part of the Fredericksburg Hangar Hotel complex. The Hangar Hotel at Gillespie County airport in Fredericksburg (www.hangarhotel.com) is a reproduction of a WWII fighter base, complete with BOQ, Officers' Club and diner. It's become a very popular fly-in destination for Central Texas and provided the perfect setting for a day of good food, camaraderie and hangar flying.
The CenTex Mini-Reunion started in the morning with coffee and sea stories, then progressed to lunch and sea stories. After lunch, the guys toured the Nimitz - National Museum of the Pacific War while the wives sampled the Fredericksburg shopping scene. At the end of the day, the group rendezvoused at the Fredericksburg Brewery to sample the Admiral Nimitz Pale Ale and plan another mini-reunion in Corpus Christi this fall.
Many other association members in Central Texas expressed interest in attending the event but had conflicting plans. Because of that, we're confident that the fall event will attract even more members.
