    August 8, 1960: Chief Robert Hornichel Sr. of Oceana (NAS Norfolk) was killed when his A-4D-2N BuNo 147725 crashed at Ft Bliss, TX while on a delivery flight from the factory to the east coast. Hornichel was making an approach to an El Paso airport when his plane rolled to the side, lost altitude, crashed and skidded through a barricade and shed and exploded.
