28 DEC 1967: Flying Tiger is 2nd A-4 unit established in the IDF/AF.

APR 1990: Flying Tiger Squadron was merged with FSATS, the training unit.

NOV 1994: FSATS was divided into a a fighting squadron and an associated "training flight".

05 JUN 1967: Six-Day War starts between Israel and Egypt. Israeli Skyhawks are not yet delivered.

28 DEC 1967: The Flying Tiger Squadron is formed with Yossi Sarig as its first Commanding Officer.

April 1968: the "Ayit" are first used in combat.

04 AUG 1968: The Flying Tiger Squadron goes into combat when they bomb terrorist camps in Jordan.

06 OCT 1973 Yom Kippur War: Fully operational with A-4H. The "Flying Tigers" flew 992 sorties and lost 17 aircraft.

NOV 1973: The Flying Tiger squadron started OTU (Operational Training Unit) courses and continued them each April, August and November until 1985.

JUL 2005: The squadron is flying the TA-4J and TA-4H in concert with the Flight Training School (FTS).

2005: In 2005 the "Improved Ahit" was introduced.

2006: TA-4 Skyhawks are being used to train new IAF Pilots. Estimated T-Bird inventory is 23 to 25 aircraft. Single seat A-4N Skyhawks are also serving in the training area.

FEB 2011: The Skyhawk Association President, Todd "Hun" Frommelt, was requested by an Israeli pilot to provide some comments to two retiring Israeli Skyhawk pilots. He was glad to oblige, sending them a congratulatory letter on their 40 some years of service in the IAF. See the below photo album links for their final flight photos.

Y2012: Estimations of Skyhawks still flying in Israel for training, Electronic Warfare work, and other missions is; excess of 30 A-4N and about 15 TA-4J/H.

JAN 2013: Images of five Ayit was found on the internet showing A-4N aircraft 302, 306, 324, 336, and 391 on the flight line at Hatzerim.
